Wanted: Airstream to rent for Wedding?

Are you in the Washington DC area and have a silver Airstream you'd be willing to let us rent for our wedding? We actually only need it as a staging area for the bride before she steps out to the ceremony, which will be held outdoors on a military base in the DC area. So, we wouldn't be using it much at all -- not staying overnight in it, or cooking or showering or anything else. There's no indoor area near the ceremony site for the bride to do any last-minute "prep," so we want to have something cool like an Airstream so she can make her entrance. We're reliable, trustworthy, and conscientious, and we'd love your Airstream to be part of our big day! Let me know if you are interested and we can discuss fees and logistics. Thank you!

I hope you found something. I would gladly let you use mine, as I am involved in special events, but I'm too far away.

Airstreams make great photo backdrops for weddings. Have seen many in wedding magazines.

You might try Craigslist in your area. I know in Los Angeles there are several people who advertise their Airstreams for special events. Or, alternatively, put your own ad in CL.

kristiana - silver trailer, does rentals on this side of the country but I'm sure that she will know who does near you......and they would be recommended.

Contact 62overlander - Frank - he has a repair shop up there and may know of someone locally willing to assist.

You could try the Richmond Craigslist. It's not that far from DC, and there are a few of us down here. I know one guy had a 50's flying cloud that looked great. He was on the forums last year.

Unfortunately, mine is only half polished. It's road worthy, but not wedding ready.

Rob.

Consider carefully the size of the bride's dress. If it's a ball gown (big skirt) the narrow door could snag it. Also if the bride is tall, the height of the door combined with the veil could be a problem. If the dress is short, or doesn't have a full skirt, the door would be manageable. Also consider the bride's wretched shoes - you buy them to wear one time - and the heels are often higher than normal (It's about style, not comfort!) The stairs on an Airstream, aren't full length - not good for heels at all. So if you use a stream, leave the stairs folded but use a large footstool instead, the bride would probably thank you.

Nice idea but I'd consider a tent rental - with carpeting spread to prevent any dirt/damage to the hem of the dress. Of course no bathroom in the average tent or enclosed canopy.

Just thinking. See the local KOA's - many have a 25 FB for rent!

though some do, they are few and far between. That whole program is a new thing and not yet in many campgrounds.

Try Colonial Airstream or Airstream of Strafford but be forewarned you will pay for this service.

Is it a hippie wedding, or do they have those anymore?

One can only hope there's the best of both worlds. :D

I ran this by my wife (we live in the DC area), and she pointed out something about ours that your bride probably would NOT be happy with - we have an odd smell in ours, from the vinyl covering or something like that (it's not a leak). We've been working on it but it's still there, and the last thing she'd want is for the smell to get on her dress or something like that.
