Great work Sparky. Looks like you can take the whole clan and friends too! I'd be interested in seeing the dinette and the lip that the table sits on to make into a bed. Must feel so nice to be so close to completion. How's your bank account? :0)

Sparky57 06-19-2013 11:29 AM

Yes, budget is getting stretched for sure. I wanted to spend 20k, I just tipped over 22 with probably $1000 to go, but that is accounting very closely for everything from gas to pick up the trailer last year, to beer for favours and so on. So....23,500. Cheaper than a new trailer, and lighter, and better built :)

The dinette....I think you picked out the one thing I haven't actually figured out yet! I think the table will fit into a grooved metal channel along the front of the U-shape, and then the other end will be supported on a metal rail that will run across the trailer, at the top of the U. I'll store the metal bar under the seats when not in use. I hope that will be solid enough....

Trailer will sleep 6, but I only have one bunk will be for friends, a dog, luggage, whatever....

Did you polish yours? How long will it take me? I am using the Jestco products....

Holy renovations, batman. Looks wonderful. At least I can now see what my '57 Overlander has the possibility to look like ;)

I haven't polished it yet. Just around the windows that I have re-built so far and the rear cargo door that I re-built. I'm using nu-vite products and a buffing wheel on a polisher but ill order a new wool pad from VTS today and give that a try on the larger areas. Seems that it covers larger areas faster so ill let you know how it works. The places I have done look great.

Very nice work. It's great to see a project coming to an end. You should be camping soon

pbearsailor 06-19-2013 07:39 PM

Looking great, Mark! :wally:

That first camping outing will be super.

Thanks everyone! A million little jobs still to go, and as expected, a couple items will be done after the maiden voyage. 3 big things left to do:
Shower pan and fridge vents and floor. Lotsa late nights and I think I can get it done.

I was thinking bamboo hardwood floors, but it is heavy and now I am thinking better to go with some sort of vinyl or sheet product....unless I want to upgrade the tow vehicle:)

The final push!

It's been a long time since I updated but here are some finished pictures. I had her out on the road last year and it was great. Not all things were finished but it was a good test run of all the systems and I had a good list of improvements and changes.
Here are some pics of the bathroom and bedroom area. Still doing the final finishing work on the kitchen and seating area, so stay tuned for those pictures in the coming days. I am super happy with the closet lighting

Here are some of the bathroom door lock, new bunk lighting, the bunks, and a new addition to the family (she sleeps on the bottom bunk)!

Skatiero 05-21-2014 06:31 PM

Wonderful, Sparky! We also built bunks-- love yours!

Looks great.

I'm curious to know if you're happy w/ the push button combination drawer pull / latch hardware?

Sparky57 05-22-2014 12:58 AM

Yes, I am happy with them. They look nice, work fairly well. They were not hard to install, but not simple either. A couple were quite sticky at first- wouldn't unlock/lock smoothly. Not sure why but I think it has something to do with getting the screws in nice and straight that hold the inside drawer mechanism to the drawer back. Other than that, I have no regrets.
I got them off, these aren't the high priced Hafele ones, but they look as good IMO.
