AC Fan Motor Seized?

I have a new to me 73 TW. The PO had a new Dometic Penguin AC unit installed 5 years ago, and had never used it. When I go to turn it on, I can hear the condenser working, but the fan does not come on. Of course when switched to "Fan Only" the fan does not come on either. I crawled up on the roof yesterday and took the shroud off. I'm not exactly sure which part is which, but (what appears to be) the fan blade that is attached to the motor, towards the rear of the unit, cannot be turned by hand...it appears to be seized. Does this seem possible in a new-ish unit? (it was kept on the coast in southern BC) Would it be the bearing, or would the entire motor need replacing? Thanks!

It does happen particularly if the units are stored outside and never run.

In general it is best to replace the motor. They aren't designed to allow the bearings to be serviced.

Exterior steel parts, can and will rust rather quickly, when parked within about 25 to 30 miles or so from salt water.

That would explain the seized armature of the AC fan motor.

I would suggest that you also check the frame for severe rusting.
