Ceiling/wall covering

Covering is off-white thickly textured cloth. Good looking when new and clean. Factory replaced under warranty when new in '06 because of the "aluminum/rivet dust created while traveling. (are we suposed to just let the unit sit in storage!?) Black spots are reappearing, so it's embarrassing showing our Bambi to visitors. Entertaining is mostly under the awning, outside, since we (well, one of us) are sort of clean fanatics. Apparently cannot clean with normal processors. Factory has no solution.

Is it almost like carpeting or thick upholstery? Have the same thing in our 2006 Safari 23 and have been wondering about how to clean it. Wondered if carpet cleaning would work on it?

This subject reappears from time to time. If your only problem is the black spots, you might be interested in this: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f39/...tml#post739769 .

Apparently the spots are the aluminum dust created as the trailer skin flexes against the rivets. So the usual carpet cleaners would only spread the black through the covering fibers, making matters worse.

Exactly right, the aluminum dust is the culprit, so Shari's suggestion of a vacuum cleaner does not work. The solution I describe in the link above does work because the paint makes the backing of the fuzzy wall covering impermeable to the dust, so the spot does not reappear.
