Should I bother?
I decided to see what was under the latex paint on our 65 Safari's walls today. I did a small spot on the door but it took an hour. It looks pretty good here but I know there's a couple of small patches near the air conditioner that would be trouble since they won't match. Any opinions from someone whose been here before? Is it worth it to try to save the original or just paint and go?
As a side note, does anyone know how to put a pic in from the app?

Nevermind, I got the pics on for what they're worth.

Taking paint off can be SO much work.
It looks like your zolatone (the original speckeled paint finish) that's under your paint is in good shape though.

It depends on what you like. If you don't mind the paint, I'd say just put on a fresh coat of whatever color you like and go camping. If you're striving for original, you've got a LOT of work ahead of you.

There's already two layers of paint on top of the original and I think it looks alittle "lumpy". That's what prompted me to look underneath. The original wasn't sanded or anything so the layers on top don't look smooth. It just looks like alot of work to get it off. Ugh, don't know what to do.

We debated, painted it, went camping and never looked back.

I like the fact that we can easily touch it up.

Maybe I should strip some of the worst places with drips and runs and see how that goes. I probably need to strip those areas regardless. I did remove a little of the paint on the overhead cabinet fronts thus evening as well. It will look alot better with that done. The Formica is tan and gold speckled which matches the original paint and overhead cabinets well. The original upholstery was turquoise and green (we found a swatch in the back) and we've recovered the couch in a similar pattern.

Oh, and the cheetah curtain is gone too. Replaced with this bedspread, though I still need to line it.

I like those blinds in the front windows. Are they special or just store bought?

I think they're just store bought. The PO had put them in but I just took them all out :)
I thought they were too big and clunky to deal with. I have visions of big flowered curtains. We're going to have fun with 1965 :)
