SoCal dilemma: Desert Hot Springs, Borrego Springs or Temecula?

Hey, streamers, I disappeared for a while because I

A) had a kid 2 years and 3 months ago
B) lived in the Airstream last summer due to financial duress
C) got all my questions answered
D) got suckered in by Facebook

But now, dear readers, I'd love some advice. The DH and toddler and I are headed to San Diego for a spring break trip in early April. It's 2 days away from Wyoming (SLC stop, Vegas stop). We'll do the zoo, the baseball game, soak up some sun and salt water. On the way home, I want to stay a couple of days or three elsewhere in SoCal. We've already seen Joshua Tree. I'm trying to decide between Temecula (wine tasting!), Desert Hot Springs and Borrego Springs. The latter looks fabulous, but is already booked up on our dates, so I'd be trying for cancellations or doing dry camping at the country's "nicest small RV resort."

Obviously I'm psyched on soaking in some mineral hot springs. Anybody have first-hand knowledge of these places, and which is the most awesome?

Stella,

We prefer the Palm Canyon Campground (full hookups) at Anza Borrego State Park. While in San Diego, check out the Spreckles Organ concert on Sunday afternoon in Balboa Park.

We stay at Sams Family Spa just outside of Desert Hot Springs off Dillion RD. Debbie the owner is very nice and helpful and the natural Hot pools are great. The have a web site by the same name.

We wholeheartedly agree with Kingfisher! Agua Caliente has all the comforts and you still feel miles away from everything!

We have not camped at Agua Caliente yet, but friends from San Diego call this thier favorite spot. They used to not allow dogs at Agua Cliente, but they do now... That's the only reason we did not camp there when we've been in the area...now we can! We've stayed at Palm Canyon Campground at Anza Borrego Desert State Park (near Borrego Springs)...It's a nice place with full hookups...we'd go back. Hint: if you need to stock up on food, etc do it before you get to Borrego Springs...things are way expensive there in the grocery store. We were shocked.
