Anybody take a great dane out with them?

Hello,
I was just wondering if anyone has every gone out with a great dane. We two children under 8 and two dogs. One dog is a 50lb blue heeler and the other is a 137lb great dane. One of the reasons we got the A/S was the ability to take our k9 family members with us.

Any tips, suggestions, ideas?

We traveled quite a bit with a Dane. He could curl up into a smaller area that our Boxer. The only issue we had was when they were both left unattended the interior would come out on the short end of the deal...

What a cutie. We lost our 12 year old harlequin dane last year so your photo made me smile. Our also had natural ears and was a complete sweetie.

Your post made my day - wish we could have taken him along in our AS.

Have fun!

Sandy

I'm married to a great Swede, does that count? I take her camping every time I can.

We travel with our Weimaraner. She is only about 60#, but a great traveler. I had a 165# Dane mix growing up and he would have done fine as well. The only issue we have run into is a few of the State Parks in FL (one the beach) won't allow dogs.

If they behave it doesnt matter how big or small they are. Our two labs do great in a 19 ft Bambi. Take him along.:brows:

This is one of two reasons that I am looking at getting an airstream. We currently have two children, and two great danes that go camping with us. With a fifth wheel it means we go in two vehicles. I have already purchased a camper shell for the danes and soon when I buy a new trailer and sell my fiver we can all go together in one vehicle.

:) Hi, some campgrounds only allow dogs that weigh 20 lbs or less. We have had four dogs and only one was under 20 lbs. We never had a problem with taking our dogs, but you never know.
