New Kitchen
3 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone just thought I would try to post some pictures of the new kitchen I am building, I have never done much wood working so it is all trial and error but so far so good I guess. I am building everything myself and we will see how well it turns out. Hopefully the pictures will post ;)

Looks good! My only suggestion is to make sure it can be removed as a one piece unit and it fits out the door. Keep us posted and keep up the good work.

Yup - looks good! But you've got me wondering what the small space with the piece of plywood behind it with the cut-out is for? The second from the rear upper opening is the one I mean.

The spot you are talking about is for my power switch for the microwave I am installing below it, it will switch power from the water heater to the microwave and back so only one device is powered at a time.

Looking good. How are you connecting the stiles and rails together?

higgy116 11-04-2009 08:38 AM

All the joints have been glued with screws and biscuit's, hopefully they will all hold together:blush: If not I guessI will have learned a hard lesson in cabinet building, they seem to be good and strong.

Should last longer than the trailer:D Nice work for someone who doesn't do much woodwork

Looks great! The only one you have to ultimately please is you! Which is usually the toughest customer........

What kind of tops are you putting in?

Keep those pics coming!

I have made a counter top which I will post some pics of as soon as I can take some. I intend to use the same laminate for a dinette table and small cabinet I will be building next.

Here are a few more pictures of my progress.

Wow! You should be very pleased with yourself. That looks great.

Not a wood worker! Could have fooled me. :wally:

And you got Formica to go around a curve without breaking it! :bb: Very impressive!!

SilverHoot 11-06-2009 02:23 PM

Lookin' good Higgy! I'll also be doing my cabinetry with no woodworking experience. Did you have some experienced help, a book or is that just natural knowhowedness?

higgy116 11-06-2009 06:59 PM

Thanks for the words of confidence, 90 percent of the work I have done is all trial and error and just figuring out how to do things. The only advice I had was from my wifes 84 year old grandfather who was not able to show me anything or come by and look, but I have asked him a few questions, seen work he has done and bounced some ideas off him.

:) Hi, your kitchen is really shaping up nicely, good job. Can't wait to see more.

2vets 11-07-2009 06:25 AM

Wow- that is beautiful! What kind of floors did you put down? They look terrific too!

Roadrunner 11-07-2009 06:43 AM

Very nice work! It looks like you retained the original stovetop...did you reuse the sink or replace it? Also looks like you may have put new floor under the cabinets? Do you plan to replace the cabinets on the opposite side? What type of wood did you use? Keep up the good work. Remember to measure twice and cut once.

higgy116 11-07-2009 07:03 AM

The stove top is not the original, I replaced it during my first restore right after I got the A/S, the original was shot. The sink is the original and I was able to keep the original oven which looks like it was never used and after a good cleaning and burner inspection/ maintenance works fine although I don't expect to use it any more than the original owner did as you can see in the pictures I have installed a microwave and I am sure we will use that much more. I have installed new floor through the entire trailer, I will post a couple of pictures as soon as I can of the hall and bathroom floor I have installed.

Excellent work and well thought out. You may have a future in restoration here!
