Lighting mystery
We just bought our AS this spring. Our 1977 Trade Wind has 2 deep cycle 12V batteries powering the 12V system and I have only been able to get the rear ceiling light/vent combo to work. The forward two ceiling lights don't work. I checked bulbs and they are OK. I thought I would leave it to fix later...

 Today I hooked up the 7 pin trailer connector to the truck and the forward lights are now coming on, as is the stove fan???

I thought it didn't matter - that 12V lights would work by either TV battery or RV battery. Anything I need to be doing differently to get the 12V features to work without having the AS plugged into the tow vehicle?

Wow, that is bizarre! It shouldn't matter whether you're hooked up to the TV or not. Your TV should be charging your batteries, not running your lights and stove fan. Check your TV charge line to see where it's connected. It should be wired to your univolt (or maybe your batteries directly, but I doubt that).

You may want to check your fuse on the blue charge line. In the wiring diagrams I have:

The lights/fans are always split on two different circuits.

Some of the forward lights/etc. are on the blue charge line that feeds power from the TV.

If the fuse is shot - or you have a line break rear of the front two lights - hooking to the TV may be back feeding power to them.

You should meter the fuses - not just look at them if you can. Good luck with it....

Thanks Gary & Mike. I'll check the fuses & clean the fuse holders and see where that gets me. Meanwhile - if anybody else has any solutions...
