Radio Speakers but no Radio 1969 ????

Ok I just bought this 69 Sovereign Airstream and there is speakers in the front cabin and rear sleeping room but there is no radio to be found. I did not see anything in the front console or any place there was a radio spot that appeared to be removed. Anybody have a 69 with a original radio installed? What am i not seeing?

Thanks Todd

So to speak, the speakers were standard.

The Radio was an option.

If I remember correctly, the Radio was installed, when it was installed, in the front rooflocker, over the front window.

Rooflocker?

Great, now I'll be dragging around an image of a white fluffy kangaroo all day.

On my 69 tradewind it doesn't have the radio but looks like it was in the rooflocker like Andy said

On my 71 ditto on the roo flocker. If you are lucky the coach was prewired for the radio and if you pull the console you may find the wires. Does your 69 have a "Master Control Center" up front above the flocker? That would be easy to remove and you may be able to find the wires.

My 71 has the no radio plus no speakers problem. However I know where the wrires are. My speaker wires come out in the front overhead area, if I pull my control panel I can see all the wiring is in place.

I opted to go with an MP3 player and computer speakers that power off 12 volt.

if you remove the thumb screw that holds the clock and thermometer in place, and hinge that down, you'll see the access to the control panel inner workings. Inside you should see the wire pulls from behind the end cap and 4 sets of gray speaker wire, that should be your two front and two mid-trailer speaker wires. There is also 12 volt inside there you can tie your stereo into. The stereo location was on the street side upper cabinet "rooflocker"

My 69 has the speakers and PO installed a radio with mp3 player, all of the wiring was in the rooflocker

My radio is in the rooflocker too! Great addition to the Airstream dictionary Andy!

Just go buy a car radio that has an auxilary jack for mp3 players etc, and put it in. Get a flat panel screen TV and hook it up to the radio and you will have the best sounding system. My TV and Radio rock. I bought my radio on sale for $38.00 and the 19" flat panel screen TV was a gift from my kids. I paid $18.00 for four new speakers at Walmart and now I am all hooked up. We like the sound system so much we will go watch movies in the airstream.

8-track radio in my 74 Sov

Imagine you are sitting on the couch, facing the rear of the trailer. Slide as far as you can go to your right, and reach over to the wall and pull open the wooden panel to flip out the Motorola AM-FM Stereo 8-track radio.

Oh, and if you blow a fuse, here's how to get at it:

The only equipment in the overhead bin is the thermometer and clock.

Where are the mid trailer speaker locations? Can anyone tell me

Aage 04-21-2015 01:17 PM

On my '74 31-footer, there are a pair in the front, fairly high up on the wall, and behind the curtains, plus a pair in the walls of the mid sleeping area, again up and behind the curtains.

I would consider those to be the mid ones, but there are no rear ones in that layout.

If you have a rear bedroom, I would look in there, same height.
