How is Buckskin in the winter? My job takes me to Parker alot and I pass the entrance, but have never gone in. I had thought it might make a good site for a winter rally.

Richard... I am keeping an eye on the 4CU Deadhorse Ranch Rally...we have not been to that state park yet...

Buckskin Mountain is nice...right on the is mild in the winter (it's only a couple hundred feet above sea level) but that also makes it a very popular winter destination for seasonal folks. No ground fires allowed. It has some full hookups and some partial, and some pull throughs, too...nice large grassy area and trees. I'm not sure if they can accomodate group reservations or not. I will check when we're there and get back to you...there is also the "River Island Unit" which sounds interesting...we have not been that but will check out this trip.

TB & Greg

Bump on!
A reliable source has advised me that party favors are being ordered. They will undoubtedly be a 4CU collectible that you will cherish and want to bring to the 2008/2009 2nd edition

Park reservations update
I talked to the park yesterday and nobody has reserved any of the group areas for New Years weekend. So I'm going to move forward and reserve the Jackrabbit group area. We already have enough "units" to qualify and can have up to 14. If we get more we'll upgrade to the Quail group area (if no one else has reserved it). There would be overflow room in the regular area too. Now I just have to decide on the east or west half of Jackrabbit.

Jackrabbit West group area is reserved.

That's great. If we can get more folks to sign up now, we can go for the other half before someone else grabs it.

Do you know if they have any restrictions on generators?

silverback 09-25-2007 09:02 PM

Nothing specific online regarding generators. The quiet hours are between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM. I will check with the park.

Generators OK
I talked to Jim at the park today and generators are allowed all day except during the quiet hours. We plan to get there the afternoon of the 28th (2 - 3 PM) to prepare. Jim told me we could stay in the group area at the single night rate as it will be after check-out time.

It looks like this rally is starting to grow. We have 12 signed up and 2 1/2 months to go! We are not sure if we will arrive on Friday or saturday yet. I know most of the people on the list and this is going to be a great rally!

All we need is three...
...more trailers and we can move to the bigger group area. We can do it! This is going to be an awesome rally.

I drove to Tucson last weekend. I suspect that once the Calif. crowd realizes it's less than a days drive others besides us will be signing up.

It's going to be great to have Milo at our Rally!
Good news for anyone who will be headed to the rally from California, you can bypass Phoenix and avoid a bunch of traffic.

Yep, thats the route we took. Beautifull Segura forest on the 8.

If you want you can stay overnight in Gila Bend at Augies' RV resort. (If you've seen it you get the joke.)
