Have you replaced your transmission cooler? ...or added one?
 
My F-150 has a factory-installed transmission cooler, but I wonder if it is adequate. Occasionally the transmission temperature goes above 20dF when towing. So three questions:
(1) How hot is too hot?
(2) Have you replaced your existing transmission cooler, or added one if one wasn't already installed? Which brand and type did you choose?
(3) How effective is the one you installed?

Ck your owners manual...

Our Burb will go into 'limp mode' when the trans temp is sustained at around 260*F.

Normal towing for us is 150-200mts.
125 w/o the AS

I did install an aftermarket cooler in our 95 Burb.

The 454 ran a bit hotter and the cooler did help a lot.
In our colder climate it's important to have a fluid by-pass to allow for quicker warm-up in low temps.

F150 Transmission Temperatures

I have a 2012 Ecoboost F150 that I pull an AS 2019 Globetrotter 27 FB. Towing temperature for the transmission is 190-200 degrees. It will go higher pulling a pass but never approaches the yellow or red caution zones on the factory gauge.

Consult you factory owner's manual or discuss with your Ford service folks. My dealer showed me where the first transmission service is at 150K miles or if there is a problem. You will also find no dipstick or drain plug, its a sealed system.

Unless your having an issue, you should be fine.

I have a 2016 F150 4X4 with 3.5 Eco Boost pulling a 2019 27 ft Globetrotter. I have never had any indication of higher temperatures. Dave W

I used to use one of these https://trucool.com/products when I was towing my 25 with a 4.7L Jeep GC. I liked it because the oil would by-pass the cooler in winter but would flow at full blast the hotter it got. It really did the job well. Jim

I just went through this with my truck. 05 Sierra with factory aux cooler would stay around 190-200 towing, creep up to 210 in the hills in hot days. I changed that out to a Hayden unit twice the size. Definitely keeps it cooler not towing, around 150-175, but towing in the hills it still went to 200. Not worth the hassle if you ask me. If I bypassed the radiator cooler it might work better.

Put it after the OEM rad cooler.😂
