Tip of Awning Stick

I'm referring to the aluminum rod used to reach the awning lathers and to turn the awning wheel

Somehow I lost the little red plastic tip that goes on the end of the rod. Does anyone have an idea where replacements could be purchased? Or has anyone come up with alternative to the plastic tip?

Thanks!

I imagine Zip Dee would send you a couple, and then you could glue it on. Not sure why they don't do that.

I just wrapped some electrical tape around it. Then that came off...and I have just left it bare. Just careful to hit the loop, and not touch/scratch the trailer.

Or you can get a can of liquid electrical tape and dip the end in that multiple times until you get the thickness you desire.

I spent a couple of years being careful and putting the red tip back on every time it came off. Then one day I decided mental health was better than a red tip. I threw it away and have not thought about it since.

Zip Dee has them. We were at Alumapalooza this year and picked up several replacements.

Wire Nut

I just glued a wire nut on the end. Worked fine

They are not necessary. I think they are there in case you accidentally poke yourself in the eye!

You can replace it, but it will fall off again. It takes a beating on the wheel latch. I just left mine off.
However, you can look into "plastic thread protectors" at the big box store.

Heat shrink works well. Available in almost all colors. Does not come off easily.
