I need some stuff

OK, I have been working on it for 2 days now and I need some stuff. I am not sure what all the things are called or where to get them. I would like to go over to lowe’s Hdw and pick up everything I need at one time. It’s a 50 mile round trip for me to go to town and usually takes half a day because of the slow dirt roads in and out of here. My nephew, (who for some reason, is as excited as we are) is coming up for the weekend to help out. He is a pretty good carpenter. We are going to have a “fix up my argosy weekend”. I want to get as much done as I can while he is here to help us. He said he would stop on his way up and pick up what I need. So here is a list of stuff I need, can you tell me what it’s actually called so I won’t sound too stupid when I call it in. Also where can I get it?

1-12 volts bulbs, I think they are 1156 and I can get them at any auto store.

2-Window screen?

3-Window screen rubber, who and where?

4-Caulking, What choices do I have? I have heard of Sikafex-221 Lowes got that?

5-Cleaner for the inside? Whats my choices and where is it?

6-1”square foam seal for the roof vents, Lowes?

7-Door seal for the refer, who and where?

8-I need one window whats is thickness, who and where?

9-I got one small place in the plywood flooring, what thickness is the plywood?

10-pop-rivets sizes, (I have a pop-rivet tool)

11-Wheel bearings?

12-brake shoes?

13-Plumbing, we have not even checked the water system yet. I may be ok or I may have a bunch of busted pipes. I keep plenty of regular ½ PVC house plumbing around. Do I need anything special here?

I found tires for $54 each. I don’t know what brand they are but they are ST225-75X15 with D rating.

Thanks,
mtnman

If the cleaner is for the ceiling ( do search for sticky ceiling) I would look for a cleaner called "Awesome". It's usally sold a dollar stores and deep discount type places. The sticky ceiling is a known problem and a b!+*^ to lick. For some reason this ceap cleaner does it - just don't get it on fabric. The sticky ceiling is a combo of dirt and the vynl off gasing/breaking down. we have to reclean each year. Some folks clean then coat with futurefloor wax - again search.

I don't know what size bearings you need - but when you figure it out.... (or someone chimes in) We found ours at a farm supply place that sells utility trailer parts - the local auto parts store wanted a pile of money and didn't stock them.... as I recall they were reasonanbly priced at our local Ranch and Home.

Plumbing: Your original was copper - many of us have had to replace some or all the lines. Use PEX (or other flexible line). PVC will crack when you rattle down those dirt roads. Again use the search tool. search PEX.

Thanks Janet, I love to hear words like "dollar stores" and "deep discount type places" and "cheap cleaner". I am going to search right now.

The Awesome stuff is sold here:

http://www.99only.com/

If you find a store near you they're likely to have it.

No stores like this in North Carolina.

I believe my water lines have already been changed to this PEX stuff. I dont see any copper lines, I guess that is a good thing.

Some other ideas -

I used Simple Green (a LOT of it), I know Vintage Thunder used Castrol super Purple (available at car part places), I also used BarBQ cleaner for some really nasty stuff (open the windows though).

Rivets - I used a small size in short, medium and long. (I'm assuming for the interior cabinets and stuff)

Rubber - http://www.airforums.com/forum...ing-16167.html try this thread for non-AS suppliers. You can also call your local AS dealer for the real stuff.

Window screen - any screen material - just get new spline too (the rubber cord).

Do a search on bearings and brakes. You can also order all new backings from Dexter or Dexter dealer.

Tires - I think that's a good deal - most other brands are made by the same company overseas.

Thanks for the pics -that's one fine trailer you have.

We just finished cleaning our walls and they were yellowed, sticky, and stinky. I searched on here and went with the greased lightning they have it at Wally World but I got the full power it's over in the auto section. Then I came back with 2 coats of future floor wax Wally has that also. I dont brag but if I say so myself the walls look brand new.
Just remember it takes alot of elbow grease.
With your other items do a search and you can find all kinds of help and ideas.

We had awesome luck cleaning with hand cleaner "goop". Wipe it on and take it off with a hot towel and you will be amazed! Smells good too.

Good luck with fixing up your Argosy. Our son has one and just loves it.
