2020 Interstate

Dealer is telling me if I want exactly what we want we will need to order and they would be a “next gen” 2020.

Does anyone know when 2020’s will be available and what changes there will be?

Welcome to the Air Forums.

Be aware that the early 2020s may be on a leftover 2019 Sprinter chassis. But there may not be any differences.

Maybe but my 2019 which we purchased in July is on a 2017 chassis.

No class B manufacturer has announced when the 2020's with the new Sprinter chassis will begin production. But one can guess that won't happen until they run out of of the previous chassis style, more likely late summer or fall. Since it is a new chassis, there may be engineering issues to deal with as well. Generally, the "new" model year comes out about that time. I doubt Airstream will make any announcement as it may deter customers putting off buying if they know the new body style is coming soon (even though knowledgeable buyers already do).

I was led to believe (and it may be wrong information) that as of late October 2018 there were no more 2500 chassis’s available for Airstream to build on. I was informed that it would be mid to late spring 2019 before the 2020 AI 19 would be available with the updated MB chassis. Not sure if this is the same for the 3500 builds.

I just came from the Austin RV Expo. Our local dealer, Camper Clinic II, has two 19s on the floor for sale. One 4-wheel drive and one 2-wheel drive.

Lots of customer interest in the Shortys.

When it comes to the AI Nineteen, I am hearing the same mid to late spring release as SkipHoyt. A 2020 AI Nineteen built on the newly redesigned 2019 Mercedes chassis. Airstream and dealers may be more forthcoming about the Nineteens due to the shortage of the shorter chassis and there are only a handful+ left on dealer’s lots.

I never thought to ask Airstream or dealers about the longer Interstates on the 3500 chassis since my interest was the shorter van. The timing for 2020 release may be different on the longer Interstates or dealers just not as willing to talk since there are plenty of AI EXTs on dealer lots.

I was told by the general manager of a local RV dealer that sells Coachmen Galleria's that the 2020 model will ship in May using the newer 2019 MB Sprinter chassis, for what that's worth. I would suspect Airstream may follow with a similar schedule more or less.

There is going to be a huge difference on 2020 sprinter chassis vs 2019

primelink 04-12-2019 11:23 AM

Has anyone seen pictures of the new sprinter chassis for 2020

MLWilcox 04-12-2019 08:05 PM

Primelink - SkipHoyt just posted a pdf from Airstream on the new 2020 Airstream Nineteen. Includes the pricing, all the chassis upgrades, and the new interior color palettes. Be very, very happy you have a 2019. Although you may not have the new Sprinter chassis, the interior of the new Interstates look awful to me.

Just received Atlas, 2019 AI, 2018 Sprinter chassis, ordered July 2018, at least 2 delays, delivery March 2019.

Any updates on the 2020 GT or Lounge?

As much I love the cute little 19', the 24' will be the direction our family of 5 (3 kids) are going. It appears 2020 AS Interstate GT / Lounges dont exist. Yet I have seen Winnebago, and others already release their 2020 models.

Any link or pics on the new 2020 (non 19's)?

primelink 08-12-2019 10:05 PM

Wanted to know if you got the new 2020 interstate 19??

Their website is not updated with those yet... I managed to see a few photos that were shared by the local dealer... but I only saw those on the phone of the salesperson...

I like the changes coming. Better looking, imho, interior; better bed (same that is in the Slate and new 19. Improvements that come from the new chassis like the electric sliding door...

I was told that all the rest, as far as equipment, was the same as what we had in our 2018. That was a bit disappointing as I was expecting better batteries (Lithium) and a 2000 watts inverter, and a similar Truma system as what they have in the 19...

I did find this video of an Atlas in the new chassis...

WACHUKO - I like the Atlas (or the competition B+ from LTV). However, the one thing I can not get past and will prevent me from buying any of the current B+ is how the rear dually's are tucked-in way inside the wheelwell. Since you are Porsche aficionado, you understand what I mean - the "stance".. Atlas looks like a 356 Roadster from the rear, a regular AI EXT looks like a 718 Boxster roadster from rear. Am I being too picky? If they can only widen the rear axle 6" both sides, it would look so much better :D Of course I would not mind owning any of aforementioned rides.

I fully understand and agree  That just does not look right...

It was the only AI (that was not the 19) that I found a video of, that was on the new chassis...
