Remove dinette in 22' Bambi Sport?

I am interested to see if anyone has completely removed the dinette and replaced with 2 chairs and cabinet in between?

we removed the post under the table and replaced it with a lagum arm made for a boat. It is cantilever bolted to the wall under the bench and stiffly bolted on both sides.

now the table has far less wiggle than the old sliding one with the post on the floor where your feet want to be

If you go that route I might want to buy your cushions :)

I am going that route. I found the chair and storage ottoman, and designed the cabinet. Appointment at Mothership in November.

I fooled around with that idea and spent some money on a couch conversion, but ultimately just a smaller teak marine table made a world of difference, the space much more useable, and enjoyable.

I went in a different direction. I moved the base over like others did on this forum and then bought a remnant of corian type countertop material and made the table less wide and longer. The Corian is 1/2 inch thick so I added some leftover oak hardwood floor to fit the square aluminum mount and glued the Corian to the wood with 2 part epoxy. I removed the slide and now when and if I make a bed I turn the table and there's only a half inch lump. We enjoy playing cards and games on rainy days and this table is so much more useful now !

Iím anxious to see the final results! Are you looking to sell your original cushions?

LuLuAdrift 10-22-2018 02:00 PM

Yes. I'll have the pedestal table as well, or the whole dinette.

Can you still convert the table to a bed using this arm? Did you use the same table?

twbucksr 10-25-2018 04:13 AM

I saw a 22FB for sale in the forums 3 years ago while shopping for our first AS that had the dinette removed. They used a fold out table like they use to use in the older classics or you see in a small private jet, centered over the wheel well.

I'm "re-posting" my question as it didn't get attached to your post.
With that said.....Can you still convert the table to a bed using this arm? Did you use the same table?

I've been watching this for a awhile now and have decided to make this a "winter project".

Ok gang it is done and I am so very pleased. I have the entire dinette for sale, or the cushions or table. All in excellent shape as I do not smoke nor do I have pets or kids.

My custom cabinet top is hinged to open up. The table and legs nestled inside. Table can hang on front edge of cabinet sticking out full 35", or partway (24"), or freestanding behind chair between cabinet and bed. Chair is swivel and not bolted down. Ottoman is storage and heavy duty as 2nd seating.

Would you mind posting some pics of the whole living space inside the trailer after the mod? Perhaps a pic taken from the center of the bed looking towards the back. What I'm trying to determine is how does the modified side relate to the "galley side". Also could you use more interior light to get a better view of what you've done. Also a pic from the doorway looking towards the front of the trailer taken actually from the door. And then a final pic taken from the bathroom door looking towards the front side. Take it so it shows the modified side and the galley side and the bed. Thanks so much for your consideration.

Pat I will get to it. Just made it back to FL and been getting ready for a rally 12/12. I've tried pictures but you can't get a good view of galley. I'll do a video and see if that is better.

LuLuAdrift 12-09-2018 07:48 AM

Al it is now posted under Airstream Classifieds, Parts/Appliances for sale. I know it seems very high, but I've checked the price on the cushions and table when I was at the Mothership. These things are like new.
