7 pin connector colour coding.

The 7 pin plug on our trailer seems a bit dodgy, and as well, I have to use a short extension due to the fact that we have a Hensley hitch and teh original cable was not long enough.

So I just picked up a new plug with an 8 ft. lead as a replacement which I believe will allow me to eliminate the need for the extension and the extra sets of contacts that it adds that could cause problems.

I guess I could double check everything with a meter as I install it, but I'm just wondering, is it likely safe to assume that Airstream adheres to the normal RV standard colour coding for seven pin trailer plug wiring - or is that too much to hope for!?

Our trailer is a 2005.

Thx.

Yes, Airstream uses the industry standard for the umbilical wiring in its modern trailers.

I helped replace the 7 pin connector (that goes to the TV) this week on another members TT. The color codes stamped on the connector, from Campers world matched the Airstream wire colors. it also worked when we were through.:)

Thanks guys, makes sense. I seemed to recall reading that at some point in time AS did not use the same colour coding, but if that was so, looks like common sense has prevailed!

Being color blind, I saved this for reference and keep hard copies in the TV & TT.

70s and earlier Airstreams had a different system. Most of those have been changed over by owners. Not sure what year Airstream made the switch.
