Peter, glad that I could help. I need to get my trailer there in the next few weeks to get a few bugs worked out.

Thanks again, Tom, for the help last year. Have you been in to see George this year at his new location? We have some misc. items for him to look at.

Hope your summer is going well!

Cheers,

Peter

What kind of work have they done for you, and do you know anything about their capabilities with adding solar panels etc.?

Also, do you know if Airstream has authorized them to do warranty work? [Not sure if any private shops are?]

Thanks,

Peter

Peter, when it adding solar panels, unless you really know all about the solar system - eg the various panel options, the type, brand & model of controller, whether there will also be an inverter, and if so, whether integrated with the charger/converter, and even more so, the gauge of wire required given the amperage it will be carrying and the length of the run - go to a solar specialty shop who know the capabilities of the components.

FWIW, I had by last solar panel upgrade done in Quartzsite AZ at Discount Solar. They did good work for me.

Hi Peter - No, I haven't seen him yet this year. I also have a list of things to get done; I had made an appointment to take the trailer there, but family matters forced me to postpone it. I'm hoping to get the trailer there in the next 2 weeks.

Hi Tom,

Hope you had a good summer!

We just made an appt. for October with George. Did your service visit work out OK? At the new location, what kind of parking is available, as we are hoping to leave the AS for a couple of days. I did not want to ask George about this as he was on his cell phone when we spoke.

Thanks,

Peter

Hi Peter! Yes - my visit worked out fine. Nice new shop, a lot deeper than the old one.

The day I was there, George was swamped with trailers, so I grabbed mine ASAP. There is more parking there than at the old location, but I'd let George know that you'd have to leave it a few days.

It's easy to get to - right off of 84 - just keep an eye out for the small Classic RV sign on the business complex's big sign of signs. George is right at the end of the building as you pull in.

Thanks. I noticed Fahnestock SP close to George:

Have you ever been there? Not sure how many sites are trailer-friendly.

Thanks,

Peter

. . .

Thanks again for the earlier feedback, Tom. Any thoughts on Fahnestock SP?

Thanks,

Peter

FYI Fahnestock SP was partially closed, and seems more oriented to tent camping for folks who want to have neighbors real close.

Pass.

Our service with George worked out great FYI. Do you have any suggestions for a solar installer in the NE?

Really great info, Peter.
We’re meeting with Colonial next Friday to place our order. Wish us luck!!
Thanks again.
Bruce

Have a good trip.

Colonial has been very helpful to us through the years. The 23FB would be a serious contender if we ever want to move up in size, although a 25' would too! You may have already sat in many models, but I would encourage doing so once again, if you can stomach another trip around the decision-making circle!

Happy Trails,

Peter

Hi Tom,

Have you been in to see George Hernandez recently? His website seems to be down.

Here is a new thread where I just recommended George FYI:

Hope your summer is off to a good start!

Hi Peter - I haven't needed to use George this year (yet.) I do know that the website needed updating, so not sure what's up.

EDIT: I see from the other thread that he is super-busy; glad to see he's still available for when the inevitable repair is needed.

Tom

Peter,
George is still in Fishkill, NY. 12524. He still has his shop open. I was just there about two weeks ago having some warranty work done. His phone is 1-845-319-6007

OTRA15 06-08-2018 01:23 AM

Thanks Eric. Wondering if Airstream authorized the warranty work to be done at George's shop? That kind of arrangement seems new to me, albeit sensible IMO.

Thanks,

Peter

Eric 28 06-08-2018 06:24 AM

Peter,
Yes Airstream did. I paid George. Then E-Mail a picture of the bill to Chris Beaver at AS. He does the warranty work for travel trailers now.
His phone is 937-596-6111 EX 7358
E-Mail is cbeaver@airstream.com
I hope this helps you.
