please help me, fuel pump replacement
Good morning Airstreamer!I've a problem on my MH Excella 245 (1979) . I ask a suggestion. I have broken the mechanical pomp of the gasoline, you recommend me one of exchange mechanics or electric and what type?

Grazie , ciao Cesare

I would replace it with a mechanical just like what's on it.

Keeping the fuel pump pushrod up in place can make installation of a mechanical pump difficult. Some blocks have a bolt in the front that you can take out, and install a longer bolt to hold the pushrod up. Make sure to replace that bolt with the short one after the pump is in. If there is no bolt, use grease on the end of the pushrod to hold it in place.

My Opinion - Go Electric
Gasoline likes to be pushed and not pulled.

Easy install on an electric pump as close as possible to the fuel tank.

The longer MoHo's of the mid to late 80's had two fuel pumps, an electric at the tank and the engine mechanical pump.

If you bypass the mechanical a good electric pump should have no problem at all supplying gasoline to the carb.

thanks for the information.Near the mechanical I've installed a pomp from 15 gals / H but in the roads in slope he doesn't send gasoline to the carburetor and the motor he extinguishes. Now I have found these technical cards, I will try again.
sorry for my english!!

Another cause for vapor lock not mentioned in your reference document is the hard fuel line going from the mechanical fuel pump to the carburetor. I solved our vapor lock problems by insulating that line with header wrap. The line is subject to extreme heat because of its location.

Hi Waipio
I will also do that.

Have a 1999 Land Yacht 33' with a Onan 7000 gen. Has anyone changed the fuel pump ? Does unit have to be dropped ?

The unit will almost certainly have to be dropped. Check out a proper chevvy service repair manual which are available if you google it.

What makes you think you have a bad pump? Have you measured the fuel pressure?
