Battery replacement..have SRM27 Interstate
OK, the trailer is a 2002, who knows how old the batteries really are....have those punched out numbers and year -- March 2004...and I think they have done their very best :)

I do not need "cranking power" and have been advised that these Interstate batterties are not "truly" deep cycle...

OK, what do I buy, people? I wouldn't say that money don't matter but what is a good value?

Battery replacement..have SRM27 Interstate
Greetings Kistler!

I follow two different approaches to the batteries that I utilize in my coaches. For the Overlander, I utilize a very high quality AGM RV/Marine Deep Cycle battery because it has an advanced charging system (solar with inverter/charger installed by AJL Solar) - - these batteries were very costly, but are now in their fourth season showing no evidence of age. For the Minuet with its Magnatec converter (installed two years ago), I utilize a Die Hard RV/Marine Deep Cycle battery or its equivalent as the Magnatec has demonstrated its propensity to boil the battery (by shopping for an early season sale, I can often obtain one of these low-end batteries for around $60). I am happy to get one full season from the battery under those conditions and ecstatic when the battery makes it two seasons as the current battery just completed its second season.

Good luck with your battery quandry!

To understand your choice, you could go here:
but if you want a quick recommendation for an inexpensive set-up that will allow the occasional night of boondocking, buy two group 27 "marine/deep cycling" batteries from Wal-Mart. (note the inverted commas) You might like to look on the tops and get two from the same batch number. I also take my digital voltmeter, and choose the two nearest in voltage from the same batch number, but you don't need to bother with that. If you also plug them into a "battery minder" when away from the trailer for more than a few weeks, they should prove an economical solution. They work for me. Nick.

Golf cart batteries...
When we were first looking at Airstreams, we visited a couple in Scottsdale selling a slightly used 02 Bambi. The owner had replaced the stock battery (not plural if I recall correctly) with golf cart batteries. He stated they were true deep cycle. That's as much as I remember.
