Its baaack! Yeah.........

I've had major forum withdrawal the past couple of days - glad to see it back. Thanks Andy - hope the new server is up and well.

Not an addict

I am not an ADDICT. I just need to read about Airstreams a couple of times a ... :p

COArgosy78 11-23-2004 02:08 PM

Wow - that is the longest I have ever had to go w/o the FORUM!!!! I think I drank about 3 pots of coffee a day trying to maintain - now I am in hypergear.

Silvertwinkie 11-23-2004 02:30 PM

Looked like there were a bunch of folks going through withdrawal. It looked to me as if all or most of Andyís sites went down along with a fair portion of DNS. This looked like a major outage not limited to Airstreamforums.com

I guess the "eco web servers that use 90% less power" just arenít up to the task. :) www.organichosting.com

Then again, I didnít know the server that was installed last year for this forum fit the category of using 90% less power...maybe if you compare it to a central A/C unit. :D :D

Porky Pig 11-23-2004 02:42 PM

Is it safe to come out now? :D

TheLuvShack 11-23-2004 02:44 PM

Is Silvertwinkie's eye winkin at me or have I developed a twitch from being offline. Scary!

tinman7 11-23-2004 02:52 PM

Boy that was a tough few days!

jcanavera 11-23-2004 02:55 PM

Wow....I even got some office work done! How do I explain this to my boss???

Jack

Ken J 11-23-2004 02:57 PM

Really - my productivity level was way up :)

So sorry for the down time. There was a little confusion on who was supposed to handle some of the migration pieces over the wekend and that caused nearly a 2 day delay... Any posts from over the weekend were lost (sorry about that).

**Was THe URL HI-Jacked?**

I tried to log on late last night using a bookmark under favorites; when I did it took me to another web site all together. Was there a problem with someone hi-jacking the URL?

Glad to see everything back to normal. :)

eljay 11-23-2004 03:17 PM

Wow, I must truly be addicted. I kept checking and checking and checking. Glad it's back up and around!

Janet H 11-23-2004 03:19 PM

No, the URL was not hijacked... Maybe your browser tries to reach a site and if it's not available it takes you to another site?

Stefrobrts 11-23-2004 03:38 PM

That was harsh, man. I would have stayed out camping an extra day if I'd known there was no forum waiting for me. Would have saved a lot of pacing around and checking every ten minutes!

no, it was some other strange thing...I can't remember the url that I wound up at, but it was something I've never seen before. it wasn't one of those default search sites.

I did a ping on www.airforums.com at one point, and actually got an "unknown host" response, which I thought was odd, too. why would the entry have been removed from dns??? oh, well. no biggie.

(yet another airstream owning network weenie, who knows all too well the horrors of server migrations.... ;) )

Craftsman 11-23-2004 04:22 PM

Wow! I was ready to order another computer. That was scary.

Was it the Brawl?

I hope no one running this forum was part of that awful Basketbrawl in Detroit! I surely felt alone!
