Newbies with #1483

We recently purchased a 1964 A/S Overlander with WBCCI numbers (what's left of them) 1483. Would anyone know how to research the history of this number? Thanks in advance. The Rambler

No history but 1483 is not currently assigned.

in 1965 1483 was assigned to Bill and Edna Lamont from Long Beach, CA. by 1970 they had relocated to Iowa and had participated in Caravans 50 and 56.

Thank you, AWChief and dwightdi. Appreciate the information. We may apply for the same numbers. Our goal is restore the exterior of The Rambler as close to original as we can. Seems fitting to bring the 1483 back.

You can easily apply, and request your number, on the WBCCI.ORG website. My 63 has a double slide out bed in the middle. Our original gas fridge still works. I still have the galvanized water tank, but a demand pump is safer than the air pressurized water system. The original furnace is also problematic. 64's came with plasticoat. Polishing exterior looks nice, but requires upkeep.

Hello I was wondering what a demand pump looks like. I'm getting a 62 Tradewind and would like information on a demand water pump. Thanks

A demand pump is the water pump that draws from the tank and supplies water pressure to the system. There are a number of suppliers. The old 62's came with a galvanized water tank that you either blew up with pressure or turned on the internal air compressor to force the water out of the tank and into the system. It was pressurized all the time so any leak you had flooded the trailer when you were not watching.

I will be putting one in mine.

My mother bought the Airstream 1483 in about 1972 and sold it in about 1990. She transferred the 1483 number to a new Airstream about that time. I have a picture of the original 1483 that you own taken about 1989. It is attached.
