I would like to attend Alumalina. Please let me know if/when there is a cancellation. This is such a great rally. I am not surprised that it is already full. I will also check the state park site.

Thanks, Dan

It would be great to see you and your sweet wife again, Dan!

Hope you can make it. :)

Maggie

I hope to be there, but Brenda is a teacher, so she definitely will not be able to attend.

I see that Floyd, VA is on your short list of places that you would like to spend more time at. Great choice as that is a fine area.

If you get to the Lynchburg area sometime, we can always accommodate you and Lily.

Dan

Yes, LOVED Floyd, Virginia, and plan to get back there.

Well, tell Brenda hello for me, and I will keep you and Lynchburg on my radar. :)

I'd like to go to the Floyd Yoga Jam some year. Is the Airstream park in Floyd near where that event is held?

Lily&Me 11-19-2014 12:40 PM

The AS park is outside of Floyd, but the town itself is not very big, so I would have to think it couldn't be far.

Floyd is a very cool little town, especially the live Bluegrass music on weekends.

Virginia Highland Haven Airstream Park

Virginia Highland Haven, the Airstream park near Floyd is located 16 miles north of Floyd on US221. The Yoga Jam is held in Willis which is about 17 miles south of Floyd, so I would estimate the Yoga Jam is about a 35 to 40 minute drive from Virginia Highland Haven. I don't know if there are any campgrounds closer to the yoga jam.

If you have never been to Virginia Highland Haven, I encourage you to visit. The views are spectacular and the people are extremely friendly. In some ways staying there is like being at an Airstream rally. The campground website is basic and doesn't give you a real feel for the park. If you are a Facebook user, check out the park's Facebook page to get a feel for the facilities and activities at the park. Below I've provided links to the Highland Haven Facebook page and a YouTube video with a drone's eye view of the park.

Highland Haven is indeed a gem, but the Rocky Knob campground at mm 167 on the Blue Ridge Parkway would be much closer. It is about 8 miles south of Floyd, VA. Keep in mind that there are no hookups at Rocky Knob.

Hey John, Put us on the waiting list. I thought the wife had already booked.
Thanks, David and Sia.

Msmoto 11-24-2014 01:48 PM

Early arrival

Hello all, I will arrive on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, departing on Sunday the 29th. So if anyone wants an espresso or anything, I open early....LOL

I will be parking on Site 069, and if anyone is interested, my Serenity is shown here with the modifications.

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f514...ns-128265.html

For anyone who is a fixer-upper, has serious needs to change things, or likes to fiddle as in non-musical fiddling, rides motorcycles, drives fast cars, wants to talk about Airstream modifications, this is a place to do that all over some coffee.

Lily&Me 11-24-2014 02:26 PM

I am always early, for everything, so will look for you.

We can chat over morning coffee. :)

4 months, and counting down.

We've changed our reservation to get there Thursday, 3/26 at site 70 right beside neighbor Msmoto! This will be our first Alumalina, looking forward to it, sounds like a great time! Have to leave Sunday, one of us still works (but is seriously thinking about stopping that nonsense!)

Lily&Me 11-25-2014 07:21 PM

You'll have a great time, and there will be lots of folks in by Thursday.

We'll pre-rally the rally. :)

Maggie is correct, lots of folks come in on Thursday, nearly half most times.

We will have our hot dog feast on Thursday night.

Come as early as you can, stay as long as you can. The park is great.

Susan and I are amongst those that are still working, although she plans to retire next June. Me......gotta work till I drop.

John
