How do we lower the the under-the-mattress lid?

We feel stupid! We have a 2012 Airstream Flying Cloud FB--new to us. This morning we lifted the lid under the mattress and can't get it closed. There 's got to be a simple solution! Thanks!

Don't feel stupid! I did the same thing the first time I opened mine. Had to call the dealer to get it down. You have to put a lot of pressure on it while pushing or pulling it down. Feels like you are going to break something but you won't. It might take two of you but it will come down. Now that you mention it, I felt pretty stupid too. It's kind of like when my computer won't boot up and my wife asks me if it is plugged in and give her that 'stupid of course it is' look. Then I find out it really was unplugged!

It just needs a firm hand; you'll get used it it.

Eveyone here is correct, just takes some stout down force.

I will add that those lift arms are screwed into some rather flimsey wood on the bed base and after a while may rip out some wood as you close it down. Not the end of the world, it's just wood and wood repairs easily compared to many other materials.

A possible solution to the bending wood--add a layer of plywood while lengthening the bed! We love our trailer except didn't like the bed. Got a custom latex mattress made a little longer and did away with the rounded corners. Added a pillow topper. Huge improvement in sleep! Happy New Year, all!
