'66 Tradewind

Does anyone know where I can find a rock gaurd window cover for the front window of 66 Tradewind. The type that raises for window awning. Thank you, Kelly

Hi Kelly! Vintage Trailer Supply has the rockguard which is a near replica for our trailers.

Waving hi from Missouri! (I used to have family in Oberlin and western Kansas)

I looked on that site, but must not have done a very good job! Thanks so much for the quick reply. So, no family in the area anymore? Kelly

The PO of our Trade Wind told me that he made this shield/stone guard because the original corrugated fiberglass one had deteriorated. Whether he used the original frame and brace I don't know. However, most hardware stores should have all the material needed, aluminum sheet, angle trim (for the frame), slotted slide and slide w/wing nuts and piano hinge. This has been assembled using rivets......what else ;)

Rock gaurd

Thanks for all the help. Appreciate it! Kelly

The rock guard on my 68 was in terrible condition and just not usable. I was going to order one but one day when listening to the VAP podcast one of the guys mentioned how nice it was to be able to see through the trailer when towing. I decided not to order the new guard and tow a while. I can tell you, I truly like being able to see through the trailer when towing. In fact, sometimes when I forget to open the curtains before pulling out, I'll stop immediately and open them. I have a much better sense of what traffic is doing.

Rock Gaurd

Good point! I do like to be able to see through trailer when towing. However, I would like the rock gaurd mainly because I want the ability to raise it for an awning over the window when parked. Maybe I should price an awning, if they are available. Might have to have one made? Thanks, Kelly

The correct front window awning from Zip Dee, costs a little more than the solar gray rockguard.
