I am planning on buying an Argosy, preferably a 26 ft Argosy. I was browsing the forum and noticed you own one (BTW, it looks nice!). I have a few questions and I greatly appreciate your help.

1) I looked up the Airstream website and a 1975/76 26 ft Argosy has a 3960# dry weight and 520# dry hitch weight. I was just wondering what is the loaded trailer/hitch weight? I know a lot depends on what/how you load in the trailer, but I just wanted to get a ballpark number from an actual owner.

If it realistically possible to limit the trailer weight to 5000# and the hitch weight to 600#?

I suspect the grey/black water tanks are close to the bathroom and do not add weight to the hitch weight (am I right?). What about the fresh water tank? Is it in the front? (and how big is it?)

TG, How do you remove the battery compartment box ? I need to replace the floor under it. This is on a 73-24ft. Argosy. After looking at the work you have done on the Twinkie I think you are the one to help me with this. If I had your talent , I would be answering this question instead of asking it. Thanks
