Hi, I envy your airstream remodeling skills. I have a quick question about your plans for your front dinette/sleeper. We have a 1972 Soverign 31 ft AS and I have been telling my husband that I want a booth dinette AND Sleeper. You are doing exactly what I want in ours. Are you using plans or are these your plans? My husband is a big guy and we need a Queen or King bed in front. I figured we would have to build it. Thanks for any help you can give and Good Luck with your project.

HI! I am so interested in your postings. I am in the process of working on an '81 Excella 31ft and have a few problems of my own. Your new 12V system looks great. I've just found the boards for mine and will tackle this soon. Please keep us all updated on your progress. Best of luck and don't worry about that short term buyer's remorse...I know when I have unforeseen problems I tend to slip there for a moment too! I begin to think of her as a money pit! It's only temporary! Good Luck and keep up the good work.

I got the silver-streamer ready enough to go on its maiden voyage of the July 4th weekend. It was rather uneventful, and the new layout worked awesome! I installed maple laminate floors in the front along with an oak dinette that converts to a King size bed! New custom cushion foam, and upholstery. I learned how to sew and made the covers myself! I also sewed new curtains for the front and rear. I scored big on ebay and got 20 yards of premium upholstery fabric for $40! I also removed the...

Well all leaks have been addressed and fixed. Outside has been sealed up. It is started to resemble a functional RV! Today I put in the water heater and started re-installing the interior skins. I have also installed a new curbside wheel well. I will use the old one to path the roadside wheel well. The task at hand now is to figure out the electrical system and thoroughly document the changes. It has been pretty cobbled up by the PO, but I intend to clean it up. It is getting exciting to...

It has been a while since my last post, but a ton of progress has been made! The Michigan weather has finally broke allowing for progress. Unfortunately the Michigan Economy also making me a Mechanical Engineer without a JOB!! This has afforded me a lot of time to work on the trailer, although My big plans have changed and some upgrades will not be happening this year.

Anyways, I have begun installation of the floor and have three sections left. The middle three that will be the...

I have finished gutting and removed the rear most portion of floor to see what was there. Besides for the rusted steel flashing on the rear bumper storage it looked pretty good. The cross-member ans outrigger are in excellent shape! Had some difficulty with the wafer head screws holding down the floor so I cut around them to get the floor up. I will need to add some angle iron the the rear of the frame. It was rusted out a bit. I did discover that in two area the floor rotted out under the...

Well it has been a while but the weather has been nice enough to get some work done. I have finished gutting all of the furniture and have removed all lower interior panels so I can begin on floor replacement. Many leaks have been found along the way! It appears all of the vista views are leaking through the glass. The Front and Rear windows both are leaking from the installation seams (I think). The awning mount has a leak, and the fridge vent has a leak. There also appears to be many leaks...
