We're in North Central Kentucky. Our trailer is a work-in-progress so not campable yet, but we hope some time in the near future! I've been traveling a lot with my job, so our time to work on it together is limited. Plus it's just plain miserable weather here and not conducive to outside work!!

We have a '79 31' Sovereign project-underway. Keep us posted on how your maiden journey goes!

I had a Harley when I was 18. Later I had three Goldwings. That's what we toured with. There's a picture of the rig on my blog. We got 25 miles per gallon pulling the trailer, ate a lot of the time out of the cooler, and we could camp four to a site. It made for really low cost vacations. Motorcycles are in my past for good now.

I want to tour Northern Wisconsin and Michigan, lower state as well as the upper peninsula. That's not a lot of miles and I can imagine making a leisurely two week trip out of it. I may not get it done this season because of my decision to buy this fixer-upper Airstream. This may take me two years to fix up into a nice trailer to be in.

What's your plans for your trailer? Are you retired? Plan to travel a lot? Weekenders? I'm 66 and still work in the family business. My wife takes care of our two grandsons (7 years and 9 months) while their parents work Monday through Friday. We have traveled the country a lot with a motorcycle and a pull behind camper trailer. I'd probably be on the road half of the time but my wife prefers to be home.

I'm not gonna paint the aluminum inside skin in mine. I found a post where somebody washed the interior with whitewall tire cleaner. I tried that and it worked. Cleaned it and no more sticky. I'm planning to make new upholstered screw on skirts for the lower interior panels. I may have to paint the luan panels where the vinyl peeled off but I'll probably just replace those panels with natural birch panels.

Maybe you'll find the thermostat. I threw away lots of the drape connectors before I happened to think they're worth money to me when I replace drapes. I removed the upper curtain track in the back sleeping area because I couldn't clean it. I may replace some small sections of the track without the valance. I see drapes in a camper as a hard to clean item that stores dust and odors.

I'm trying to not do anything I can't reverse with this trailer. So far, so good.

I believe I'm like a lot of people who bought a neglected Airstream:-) I bought a new . . . expensive hobby. So far I have gutted the living and sleeping areas, removed a section of floor, repaired and painted the exposed frame, installed a new air conditioner, resealed the sewer vents, installed new gaskets on all the opening windows and the door, and installed film on all the windows.

Now I'm replacing all the clearance lights with LCD fixtures. Next I'll install a new tow vehicle connection cable and check out the brakes. I've ordered three new fantastic ceiling vent fans. When I get those installed I should be done on top. I have a LONG way to go to finish this enough to take it out for a weekend.

At last I can see the end in sight. Today we hitched her up and took her for a short ride around the neighborhood. I have not towed in about 3 years. Re parked, and washed, and opened the awning. So far so good. I think I can find the thermostat I need at Grainger's supply. According to the Airstream factory, Robert Shaw Thermostats can work on the 76. That is good news. So when the new foam for the sofa arrives in a few days, and the sofa is upholstered, then We can get on the road. First...

In the process of repainting interior, I have lost or discarded the thermostat. My bad? AC was working fine before that, now all i can find is the Cover. what to do... It has been a summer long project, from removing the original sofa, and flooring, putting in new laminate flooring, and new cabinet and sink. Not especially interested in keeping original. I know, I know. I wanted a more updated look. I have several...
