DO NOT change the position of the calipers. Rearward is correct.

Andy, You sold me a set of axles and disc brake kits about a month ago and I've just finished the front axle and am starting into the rear tomorrow. It was a perfect fit and looks quite nice on the ol' 66 sovereign. My question to you is the proper caliper placement. The directions are somewhat vague and confusing. The way I understood it and the pictures I've seen, the caliper should be facing toward the rear of the trailer. This places it right in front of the lower shock mount. Would it be or should it be okay to have them facing the front of the trailer on the leading edge of the rotor? Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    John Lawrence

Andy, I'm a newbie that just purchased a 1970 airstream caravel. Being not very mechanical I am trying to do what I can until I get comfortable with restoration. The one thing that needs to be done is the replacement of the rear window. Do I have to take out all of the rivets? Will a glass company sent a mobile unit to do the replacement? Any suggestions/help will be appreciated!

Andy - you helped the last time I had a problem. Now I have a water leak and think it is in the wall of the shower. The carpet on the floor of the closet (I have an 89 345LE) is wet. I have checked for leaks under the bed-none, behind the stove-none (except a rat carcass), under the kit. sink-none behind both sets of drawers-none. I think it is the shower. We just replaced the shower head hose that comes from the wall to the holder on the wall. My big book doesn't give me instructions on looking inside the wall. What now? BTW - Dometic was o.k. in the end, reimbursed me for the mess with the gaskets. Thanks, Turtle One

    Hi Andy!

Newbie to the Forum have read quite a few Threads that you have contributed to Very Good!

Looking into purchasing a 91 Limited 35 however Im concerned with the lack of Clearance 7" Ground to Spare Tire Mounted under Front,11" Ground to Rear Skid Plate Measured while Level .
My concern is in the slightest rise in a Driveway and Road Debri any thoughts on this appreciated.

Also my Residence Driveway is elevated a bit off of a Crowned Pavement Street Im wondering how it would do with TV bumping up levering Rear down a bit then Axles dropping some on approach and up a little into Drive if the Rear would really Drag and possibly do some Frame Damage?

OK Im sure Im a little paranoid but cant see Buying a Trlr. that I cant get into my Drive let alone the unknown Over the Road Steep Entrances,Drives,Road Debri, etc.

Thanks in advance and for your Knowledge Contributions!

Hi, Andy. Sounds as if you'd have no qualms about putting new Goodyear Marathons on a trailer. What is the proper size, load range, &c. for tires on my '03 Airstream Bambi (19')? Any other tires or brands you would recommend for it? Many thanks, rd

Recently, you opined that heavy duty stuff was not good for Airstreams. I'm really new w/ Airstreams but have pulled trailers all my life. Did you mean that the heavy duty stuff is simply overkill, expensive, and not worth the time or money? Or did you mean that HD items are tough on the trailer? Or maybe a third reason with which I am not familiar? Anyhow, I enjoy reading your posts! Thanks,
    Larry Dickstein
