I've been reading here on Airforum for a few months and only just began actual work this month on my '73 Argosy 24. Thank you very much for all the generous advice you give to this forum. I for one am very grateful.

Andy , I saw in one of your post that a service manual is available for a 1970 sovereign. I have a 70 31 ft international. Is there a manual available for this specific model. I have the original owners manual. Is there a manual that is a more indepth repair and maintainance specific available, Thanks, Jack

Andy I'm about to purchase a 1978 sovereign rear bath. This unit looks good, but has two issues that are really putting me off. The outriggers in the wheel wells are rusted through, and there are multiple rivets on the belly pan which have worked through the skin leaving the belly pan kinda loose. I don't see any drop in the rear and the sub floor seems quite solid with awl poking around the perimeter in the cabinets and closets, ect. With the 4 wheel well out riggers rusted through would one expect a lot more of the same elsewhere on the frame?
This is kinda scaring me away. Can these be replaced without lifting the shell?
Also is a 78 one of the units that should have the frame stiffeners installed by the axels?
Most important, do I dare to pull this home 50 miles without working brakes behind a Ram 1500 4x4? still has the vac/hyd disc setup intact. will likely need axels which will change this situation.

    Hi Andy,

Maybe you can help me figure out a smooth ride for a 2013 30W Classic Limited. I have a 2013 Ram 3500 dually and I hear that these heavy trucks do not ride smooth enough for the Airstreams. Does the Airstream itself have a smooth ride?
If I use an Airsafe hitch, do I need weight distributing bars on my 1 ton?
Is there a sway control only device that I can use with the Airsafe?
If I use a Propride 3 hitch, will it give me the smooth ride that I need?
I appreciate your advice since reading through the posts I see that you have a lot of experience for me to lean on.

    Thanks,
    Keith

    Message for Andy:

Accidentally pulled on the Piezo lighter knob, instead of pushing, on my Dometic RM 77 Refrigerator in my 1976 Ambassador. The knob came out, connected to a small rod, about 6 inches long. I tried to reinsert the rod, with no luck, as I can't seem to find where it goes while poking the the assembly back into it's previous location. The lighter worked perfectly, until this bone headed stunt. The fridge works fine, only now I have to light it with a match from the outside of the trailer. Sure wish I could reconnect that rod with the piezo striker, without having to remove the fridge...
Any advise you can give would be great...Many Thanks Andy

    Mike

Do you have any more of the vintage Airstream bunk bed wall and ceiling brackets? Or even a bunk bed frame? I have a 1970 Caravanner in which I'd like to retrofit a single bunk bed.

    Hi Andy,
I have a 1975 Airstream Sovereign. It has never had an air conditioner. Is it pre-wired for air conditioning?
    Thanks in advance

So if we ordered a shower pan through your company we would need to pay $900+ dollars after tax and broker fees and freight and THATS JUST CRAZY. So as much as we want the one you have for our 76 sovereign, we just can't justify the cost. Do you have any suggestions for us here in BC, Canada. Any suppliers or help at all? Thanks!

Hey Andy! We have a beautiful 76 sovereign sitting in the front yard ready for total renovations. I have done quite a bit of research and reading into things but I am still left with some questions for you. We have some of the vista views and stacks that need to be cleaned as i am sure you know they have the film and goopy **** that needs to be cleaned off so it can actually be a window again. The stacks at the bottom seem to be a simpler project with the aluminum ring that pulls out (as per the post from Panama Red) but the vista views are a whole nother ball game, hey! Lucky for us my husband is a bit of a whiz like yourself so I am confident we will tackle this with success but from your wisdom and years of experience what do you suggest we do to remove the glass panes from the vista views (and they are two glass panes) clean them and replace and seal them again?

Andy I am rm66caravel and we are doing a shell off restor but since it is our first airstream I need to know the size of the buck revit that I will need so if you could help I would be greatful. Also do you carry the window clips for those impossible to get latches?
