Hi Ron,

I received my Hensley safe towing newsletter today. Thanks, I always enjoy it. I see that your gold brake controllers are on sale and I'm very interested. I also saw your brake wiring kits for rewiring the trailer. My trailer is only 6 months old, but I'm not happy with brake performance using a prodigy. It needs to be re-adjusted every trip. I have to adjust the brake voltage up at the start of every trip and before you know it they need to be adjusted back down. How much is the wiring kit and will it make a difference on a new trailer?

Skopp, let me save you lots of money. Shipping alone will cost close to $200 and labor around $300, depending on what needs to be done. If the unit seems to be working properly, there's very little involved in refurbishing. Why don't you call Jarrod at 800-410-6580 x103 and let him know what your concerns are. He's very good at this. If you need parts, he'll set you up and save you a lot of money.

I have a used HA hitch # 2791. How much to refurbish it including freight ?

It's not so unusual. We're a company that was built on safe towing. We want to make sure that anyone using our product, new or used, is getting all the right parts and info to keep him safe. Maybe it won't put a dime in my pocket, but I put a higher value on my integrity and character. There's other companies out there like that. Unfortunately, the media doesn't find them entertaining enough.

Anyway, yes we do have reconditioned units for sale. We have about 5 newer hitches for $2595. These are high serial numbers, some less than a year old. They come with the lifetim warranty as well.

I haven't decided on the December sale (or even if we're having one). Normally, though, it's $200 off a new hitch. You can actually do better than that now if you need a brake controller, too. We have package deals with brake controllers, mirrors, and tire chocks. The price for a new hitch alone is $3,115 plus shipping ($105-$180 in the US).

Interesting/unusual to note your firm would help one with info. on the purchase of a pre owned unit..... In any case, I just purchased an '08 25 ft. Safari Air Stream. The tow vehicle is a '07 Toyota Tundra 5.7 liter Limited 4X4. Do you have any reconditioned units for sale? Finally, what is the DEC. price on new vs. regular price?
