Hey, a display from an early 90's Land Yacht...could work for Classics as well?

I just upgraded from 15" GY Marathons to Michelin XPS Rib LT 235/85R16E with Sendel T03 16" wheels. They are mounted on my 2014 FC 28' Airstream.
After mounting I noticed that there is only 1" clearance of the front tire from the front wheel well. Is this OK? Will the tire hit the wheel well during travel when the trailer hits a bump, hole, etc. During installation I felt that it was best to remove a small portion of the wheel well decorative moulding |

You have asked the question that is the basis for all of the confusion. You are not alone. If we could depend on the tire to wear normally, we would probably not have to depate the beat up topic. My experience with my last 5 GYM 10 ply 15" is that I got a range of 300 to 1400 miles before blowout. inflation carefully and often checked. I upgraded to the Mich. and upgraded my axles. No problem for first 3400 miles. Good luck

Could an overloaded trailer and or dead axles lead to tire failure? If this were the case the tires would be acting as the suspension putting severe stress on them. Sorry if I hijacked the thread.

In recently switching to 16" MLT's I wondered what I should do about the 15" spare. I came to the conclusion...rightly or wrongly that 1/2" would not be that big of issue as a temporary fix to getting to the next tire store. Anyone else of the same thinking? By the way, although limited experience, I have had no issues with the LT's.
