    I'm not really the expert here, but have gone through steps to reduce startup current for my AC. I have a single AC unit so my situation is somewhat easier. I suspect you have two AC units on your 34 foot airstream. Since yours is a 1991 the AC unit may not be the same as mine.
    I have a Honda 2000 generator. As a side I have converted it to Lp. A few months ago I install the micro air easy start device. It reduces the start up current below the h2000 capacity and allows a 2000W generator to run my 15k BTU AC. Thought is that the easy start is also good for the compressor long term as it allows the startup in a more gradual fashion. There are links on the forum that discuss and show installation pictures in the Dominic. Here's a good one, but lengthy;

    Can Generators Run Both AC's While Boondocking
    Sorry I can't seem to get link to work but you can search.
    If you have more questions just send me a pm. Good luck.

    I was told to ask you about honda generators, size needed, and what you have done to use less power and still use your AC. Could you please help? I have a 34ft Classic Limited.

It gets HOT with very little charcoal, and cooks chicken/steaks/even burgers quickly. Did some corn on the cob rubbed with olive oil, wrapped in foil. It came out tender, juicy, with lovely golden brown grill marks.
That’s what I have used for the last...

Smells fishy to me too. I have 30A with dual WH and it’s quite easy to run both it and AC at same time, but not good idea.
