I particularly favor the hornless types when I'm carrying a bucket of grain and they mob me! The lady who gave me spinning lessons took a little of my sheep and llama fiber and spun some yarn for me from each. So now I have little samples hanging on my bulletin board to inspire me to get to work and start spinning!

I've just finally got my spinning work area set up, and the lady who gave me lessons took a little of my sheep and llama fiber and spun some yarn for me from each. So now I have little samples hanging on my bulliten board to inspire me to get to work and start spinning!

Yes, I've seen those Jacob Sheep - they're neat looking. I prefer my animals without horns though

Looks good. I had to search all over to find orange striped "vintage" looking material for our awning. I had a friend sew it up for us. She's in the sewing business, so has heavy duty sewing machines. Check mine out post # 125 , 129, and 131.
Where did you get you poles? I ordered some very nice ones online, but they ended up being to short. In a bind for time, I bought some cheap extendable ones from Walmart. They work fine, but are getting a little rusty from some inclimate weather we have experienced a time or two.

Paula, yes, the smoke up here is terrible, now the heat also. I looked at your Coloma picture and I see you captured our envirionment perfectly. Howver, at times you have it just as bad. You have a nice blog but our very slow dial-up makes it almost impossible to wait for everything to load up. We can't do anything about it for now. No DSL or wireles available. Satalite is too pricey so we wait. We cannot even view MySpace, U tubve and the likes inless we have the time for it to load up.
    Neil.

I have not had a chance to make anything from llama wool yet, but I am going to meet a lady next week with 30 years of spinning experience, and she's going to help me learn to get started. I'm really excited about it, I've seen some people do beautiful fiber arts, and it's even cooler when it's from your own animals!

Hi, We just returned from the Coast. Weather was beautiful with the usual afternoon fog creeping over the ocean and inland. After the usual setup at our site, we got all the accessories that went along with the awning. We set up the awning which went up quite quickly and it worked!..Over the next 2 days, we played with the poles and stakes, adjusting and readjusting them so that they'd all fit together. We also tried making the poles taller, and also moved the poles to the inside set of grommets...

Always looking for some new kind of project, I set out to sew our new awning for the Safari. After 2 weeks, we're ready to test it out!. Trying to maneuver 12 ft. x 10' of screen fabric material through the arms of my circa '69 Touch & Sew, going through 3 sewing machine needles, 2 spools of heavy duty nylon upholstery thread and a bunch of pin pricks, I finally finished it. The grommets were put in by my hubby, and we ordered telescopic tent poles and stakes to set up. We're heading for the...
