After all the appropriate paperwork and handshaking, along with the assistance of my father-in-law and two brothers-in law, we were able to hook up and pull her out into the daylight.
It was only then that we realized truly how much dirt was on this beast. We only had about 15 miles to go. The challenge was that these were old tires. They looked good, but did have a bit a dry rot. We decided to stick to the back roads and take it slow.

This is my story of rescuing an American Icon.
It all began with a phone call. My wife answered her phone and on the other end was her mother. She had heard of an Airstream for sale. One that was forgotten for a few years. She didn't know the condition, year or even how long it was. All she knew is it was an Airstream, lonely, sitting in a barn in rural Oklahoma. My wife and I decided, if it were in somewhat good condition, we would meet them there with the cash.
