The frame on this unit was in good shape. The original pipe was solid with just a little surface rust. A previous owner had added an A-frame from the axle carriage forward and this was welded to the pipe in the front to make the front 2/3's solid...and a ladder type frame as used today. Only here they kept the original aluminum fish bone ribs. The back 3rd is the only frame portion that has the pipe and aluminum ribs. All I did was clean it up and install insulation and a new 3/4" a/c fir floor.
And ...yes the walls were done as you listed. I used the prodex insulation in the walls.
I got the sheet aluminum from Airparts Inc and used the .025" 6061 T6 Bare aluminum. it has the brushed look I wanted. It's made with different alloy's so it looks a little warmer than the 2024 T3 AlClad originally used. Not as blue and cold, more grayish in color. I was lucky in that all the panels used to make this unit were 3' x 12' or 4' x 12' or smaller in size. So all things really worked out great.

Did you do a shell off the frame restoration? Was the frame rusted out badly?

CaptnTom, This awesome!! Please tell me or show me the photos of your interior work. I guess that you:1) gutted the interior 2)stripped the interior walls 3) removed the insulation 4) cleaned the metal walls 4) installed new insulation 5)Taped the wires to the walls 6) cut openings in the new aluminum panels for outlets 7) replaced the interior wall with these aluminum panels

Man what agreat look. Now how hard is it to keep this new interior clean. Where did you buy the panels you used for the interior?
I hope to hear back from you on this.
    Thank you so very much,
    Rodney in SC urb2165@bellsouth.net

Hey there. I hit the wall with the dealer over the '47. It's sad but unless he was willing to do the work, I wasn't comfortable -they wanted to register it as "homemade",diff. VIN number etc. I didn't feel right about it. My friend at local DMV said it wasn't legal, etc. It just plain smelled bad. I don't need to have repercussions hitting me later- chnaces slim maybe- but felt that with the type of FULL restoration needed, wasn't something to undertake without a clear title. Legally, the dealer was supposed to do that- not me. The DMV said registering as homemade wasn't legal either. It still a Travel Trailer & can't be registered as such-needs a title-even if they weigh under 2000 lbs. I walked away, got money back, & am trying to find something else. I might have an answer to that prayer soon, but if not, I'll figure it out. I'll look at the rally calendar, see when & it's very likely! You've done beautiful work and I'd love to meet you. Rae
