Hi Andy, I am a newbie and came upon a post regarding the weight of your then recently purchased 34' Airstream. What struck me was the fact you were towing it with a 2010'ish Honda minivan. I looked at the max towing specs online and it doesn't come close to what you are pulling. So, my question is, how are you doing it? The minivan is rated at 3,500lbs and the Airstream is probably double that. The tongue weight as well must be at least a couple of hundred pounds higher than the max for that hitch. I am asking because I am looking to purchase an Airstream which would also exceed the max hitch ratings on my TV, but I am trying to work things out in my head on weight distribution changes that will hopefully decrease that difference, but I will still be exceeding the weight ratings.

Please let me know your experience so I can learn from it and make an educated decision. Thanks.

Hi Andy - I saw your post on a thread about living rooms, and am interested in the renovations that you are doing! We have a '75 Sovereign and also did our floors, and I'm very interested in painting and possibly replacing the counters. Did you have the interior painted yet? How are you planning to do this / how do you find someone to hire for that kind of work?

We had booked a shakedown trip for the May long weekend, to Point Farms Provincial Park on the shores of Lake Huron.

We used to own an old farm worker's cottage nearby, so we know the area well - agriculture and Mennonite farms as far as the eye can see, in a gently undulating landscape dotted with tall white wind turbines.
