So after choosing Carlisle tires on the advice given by the guy at our local tire shop, I went home and did some research.

So maybe they aren't on just yet, but at least they are a new color.

The chassis came back from the welder (for the second time) after having the new axle and step installed. Mr. Aluminum finished sandblasting the frame and wheels while I polished some more and prepped the frame for spraying POR-15. That last sentence took 10 hours. We both looked like squalid hobos by the end of the day, but nothing a shower and a good scrub couldn't...

To bring you up to date: we got the chassis back from the welder, fixed up and looking solid for a measly $198. Two whole dollars under the quoted price! This included three new crossmembers, fixing the bumper, outriggers, and a new plate on the front, not to mention a bunch of little welds that needed to happen.

The West System epoxy set showed up and I got busy on that today.

While there has been silence for a while on this here blog, all has not been quiet at home. We are preparing to sell our house and most of our belongings in order to start our new life on the road, so all of the last minute details (like replacing door hinges, touching up ceiling paint, etc...) have been keeping us more than busy. HSC!! (short for "hot surface coating")
