I was immersed in your frame up restore and recall a tool that I can't find. It was a wide blade plier? Used when removing the floor, shell etc. Is this it? Amerimax 85028 Jaws Metal Bender Pliers 3.5 in. Wide Blade

    Mr. jp
Started a comment and lost it half way through so you may get 2. Anyway nice to hear from you. The best I have found was an old can of 3M adhesive remover, cant find any more but the principal chemical was xylene a friend of benzene "universal solvent" that I used in chemistry classes in college, now found to be a carcinogen, but I'm still here. They sell xylene by the gallon in home depot for about 16 bucks. Take a sponge, wet it, hold it on the silicone and sing your favorite song (it needs to soak). Now here comes the part you really wont like, you can scrape it off with a plastic putty knife but a finger nail works better, you can feel when you hit that smooth aluminum (less damage). If you invite me for another visit I'll work for free for a while. But if you insist on digitally removing silicone in the absence of my presence go for it. Also to further prove I'm crazy I've asked for a whole stocking full of crud remover of different types if any works I'll let you know.

Ive got about 5 kinds of silicone on mine,on some this works others not so well also the thinner the silicone the better so cut off tops of big chunks w/razor knife (you know dont touch the skin!) after all the fancy solvents Ive tried what works best...wd 40
    Hopes this helps.

Merry Can, liked the boat pic. was looking at a Feather Craft Car Topper. Do they have the same stern styling as the Vagabond. I need something small to go on top of the burb and like the style of the Vagabond. Thanks much. Tin Hut
