Thanks for the response. We have now towed from Illinois to Can Am to Western New York and back. It was wonderful. After the hitch set up we were getting 16+ mpg too. We really like the set up. We are keeping the tongue weight light, but the folks at Can Am told us not to fret too much about it. But we always go light and will continue to do that. Looking forward to more trips. Hi Caryl!

Sorry for the delay, but I dont come very often on the web forum... Usually scroll the forum using the iphone app.

I do have a 2010 touareg TDI and I am just coming back from a 7000 km trip: Montreal-Key west-Montreal.

I am still very satisfaid with my combo touareg/25' safari. The bad side of the touareg is that you must be careful with the way you load the trailer: we travel light and most of the stuff is in the trailer, I have a thong weight of 600 lb and I am using a hensley hitch. For the entire trip, i average 17 mpg. You can use dlapointe@coh.ca if you want more detauils!

Buck How do you like your set up. We just bought a 25'fb and a new Touareg tdi. Looking forward to pulling it. We will be going to Can-Am for the hitch reinforcement. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.
