Sorry for the last reply, just getting up to speed on how to use the forum. We loved Alpine, a little cooler in August that Midland, slightly higher altitude and the air is so clean it hurts your nose. We stayed at a little park there, the Lost Alaskan, Good rates, not fancy but very clean and they treated us like family. We plan to make it a regular get away, Marfa, Marathon and The Big Bend are all in driving distance. Maybe we'll see you there!
