The friend who had his AS repaired in Tucson after a rear blowout on his 34-ft took out his waste tank valve is not, to the best of my knowledge, a member of the forum. For some reason (beyond my comprehension) he still thinks that GYM's are the way to go. His rationale is that the number of GYM blowouts is only indicative of the fact that some many of them are out there, so that statistically, as a percentage of all GYM's, it is a safe tire. He only tows at 55 mph. He has seen my all-new running gear, including the 16" Michelins.

When the GYM blew on my AS, it took out the trim as well, but also did some damage to the inside of the wheel well. JC patched that damage and changed the trim. The new trim is not exactly like the original, but it would take a fine eye to see the difference. I don't know the exact cost of this, as JC also changed my axles, wheels and tires (all new running gear).

Thanks for the info on my second tire failure. I'm rolling on the spare (Westlake - 2 of the original 4 had tread separation). I did get a General steel belted ST tire, and when I am at JC in about 5 weeks to repair the damage to the wheel well and change my 27 year old axles, I'll be having an inside the rim TPMS system installed and the Westlake will go back to being a spare. My intent is to replace the 4 running tires this year, but I'm not sure of which brand to go with for the 15" ST225-SR15(E) tires.

Thanks for your enquiry about mounting of solar panels. The mounting hardware on the roof are just "Z" brackets. They are positioned to be at a rib - i.e., where the skin is attached to the frame. The profile is low, so that the panels do not distract from the overall view of the trailer.
