I found it, it seems alot more electrical or utility updates that I hardly think about , you know women, we are so superficial thinking about surfaces and covering! Very nice.

Yes, I had many others quote me 1000-1150 at the most. I have been focusing on joining clubs based locally in the state and therefore learning good resources near Austin. Thinking seriously of doing a floor plan change, not immediately though. I saw on timeless trailers where they put a queen bed in the back and moved a smaller wet bath to curb side and the kitchen to street side. But that may be a couple years away. We just need to get her usable at this time. I will look again to find your caravel!
    Love looking at galleries!

Hey Jerri, on Uwe's site my Caravel is the older posts, you have to go further back in to the archives. The Texas caravel is getting a lot more work than mine. I live in the SF Bay area and had my axle replaced at the nearest Airstream dealer. You could contact Andy at Inland RV in Corona California who is the distributor of the official axle and he should be able to direct you to someone in your area. He is a controversial fellow, but very knowlegable. There are countless threads on here about axles. But $2500 seems high to me.

Thanks for the link. I just looked at, the Texas Belle, I hope that was the right one, I can go back and look at the others. Trying to find someone who can replace axle here nearby for less than 2500$ (the only RV place in town quoted this) and no-the utility trailer place won't work on RV's.
Where is it you are at again? We are in College Station.

Hey Jerri, my best advice is dont forget to enjoy and go camping even if everything on the caravel doesn't work perfectly. I think I took about 2 years to get everything working or upgraded on mine. I am not a handy person, so for the complicated stuff I had Uwe at www.area63productions.com handle the complicated upgrades. Check out the blog section of his website and you will see the caravel he is working on now. Mine is the Caravel that he worked on in 2009. You might get some ideas from his work. I think the biggest issue for the old caravels is the axle and any water leaks from the vents/windows etc... Let me know if you have specific questions and keep me posted on your progress. Good luck, it will all be worth it!

Saw you on the magic stove thread. We also have a 17' Caravel. We just bought ours last fall and have much to do, but haven't started. Any advice is appreciated.
