Day 12-the last full day of our vacation began early as we wanted to tour Shasta Dam early since we had to leave Buddy in the trailer and it was again near 100 degrees here today. We left at 8:15 and made it to the dam in time for the 9:00 tour. The dam is huge and most impressive. We were the only people on the tour so we had the guide all to ourselves. Shasta is much larger than Hoover dam and only the Grand Coulee in Washington is larger. Built in the 30s-40s, the inside of the dam is like stepping...

Day 11 got off to an early start. We left Howard Prairie at 10:30 and took a steep downhill road for 17 miles down to I-5. The brakes got a workout and performed well. I had the V10 in second gear and still had to brake at times. The Ford ITBC also works very well and is conveniently placed. We stopped for lunch at a rest stop and then drove straight to Antlers RV Park in Lakehead. The total distance to Lake Shasta was 140 miles and the yellow-white spray residue was again evident under my hood....

Day 9 was a restful day. After laundry, housecleaning and bathing Buddy, we lazed away the afternoon. The built in vacuum cleaner with 31 foot hose still works and well. Low 80s with a slight breeze and sunny. There are millions of stars in the night sky here. Tomorrow we will hike the property and try to rent a boat to go on the lake. They have great soft serve ice cream here. No pictures today.

Day 10 of our trip began lazily as we slept in, then cooked bacon & eggs for breakfast....

Day 8 of our trip began with a late start as I did not sleep well. I woke up late and as a result we left Crescent City at 10:30 which is later than I wanted. The 162 mile trip to Howard Prairie was very scenic, but Elena and I have had just about enough of winding 2 lane roads to suit us for a while. Today was no easy drive. It's a good thing I had new suspension on the trailer because it is getting a workout! We stopped after an hour and 50 miles on US 199 mainly to take a break as it was very...

We headed 23 miles south to the Trees of Mystery at 10:30. Dogs were allowed so Elena was pleased. We had a good time seeing all the trees and taking the tram up to a lookout on top of the mountain. We left there at 1:30 and headed 5 miles up 101 to the beach where we stopped for lunch. The sun was shining bright and as a result the temperature was very comfortable. We had a nice lunch and took some scenic shots of the area before driving in to Crescent City to walk on the pier. We watched a seal...
