    I am not familier with the Chevy welded hitch. I have read several disparaging remarks here on the forums about welded on Chevy hitches cracking. It seems like Robert Cross from NY is a Chevy guy and has commented on the hitch cracking.I myself would look at,A, can a regular bolt on Class V hitch be installed,or B, can a local welder reinforce the factory hitch. I sould think it would be fairly straight forward to reinforce the existing hitch. Either way I would beef it up. Quite likely the factory hitch would be adiquate, but....... Adios, John

    Hey Diesel1,...just wanted to tell you we are about to buy a used 1993 Chevy extended cab..it has the welded in type of hitch that takes the stinger (right?)...one day we will be pulling...but I was looking at the hitch area where it was stamped into the metal...something like 'do not exeed 4000 lbs loads...I think our trailer is 4500 lbs round about....what do you think?
