I used to live in the Woodlands and had the same tight space. We moved out to Alvin, we have three acres here, much more room!! We also have an area where a mobile hom used to be on our lot, and there is a septic system there that is currently not hooked up to anything. I installed a dump station into it, you can see our trailer hooked up to it in some of our images posted here. So theoretically we could offer full hookups courtesy parking, just not sure how often we would have people using it (couldn't handle too much) or whether we would ever have an opportunity to cash in on similar offers.

I'm not sure what the phrase means, although I assume it means making your lot, driveway, or front of home available for others to park their trailers for short periods. For me, there's really no choice as my driveway cannot accomodate another trailer, my lot is the size of a postage stamp, and in front of my home isn't much of an option either. I also wonder how much anyone would use that option as rv parks are common and must be more comfortable than staying at a stranger's house.

So neighbor, do you know what the story is with "Courtesy Parking"? Was wondering whether we should volunteer for that, and if we did, how often that would mean we had visitors!?

I live in the Heights and was worried about the trailer, but there was not much I could do. I taped heavy plastic over the windows, which are prone to leak anyway and put a broom handle through the door so that if the lock sprung, the door would not open. My driveway is on the west side of the house. After the storm I realized that the winds that did the most damage came out of the west, so my trailer was sheltered by the house which is only about 8 feet away. I'm still trying to get the tape residue off of one side but feel very lucky both for the trailer coming through the storm undamaged and then having it to stay in at night. I have a generator that would run the air conditioner, so even though I thought life was tough, any inconveniences were pretty small in comparison to what others had.

It was in your driveway during the storm? No damage? That's good!! Ours was stored indoors so made it through storm very well. Where are you located?

I lived in my airstream for 2 weeks following Ike as well. It turned out that keeping a trailer in my driveway was a very convenient thing to do. A couple of neighbors up the street moved into their 31' model.
