Rade, sorry it took awhile to get back to you. I don't log in much and just did & got your message. I like our 8.1 burb. ours doesn't burn oil like some have said it might. we have a 28' CCD and it pulls it like it's not there. i did have to replace left front wheel hub, but I think it was a misdiagnosis since it didn't solve the clicking noise up front. took it back in and it mysteriously went away. i couldn't get them to admit they charged me for a hub i didn't need though. i did put in an additional Hayes tranny cooler with fan/thermostat to trip at 190. also replaced oem hitch with Titan class V. Thanks for compliments on the stories. We're in the DFW area so come join us sometime for a campout. we belong to the HOTC (heart of texas unit). we've got a campout weekend of Oct 30 just north of Ft. Worth. It's boondocking that weekend, will be several of us. Jim (Tin Hut)

Mr. Hut (aka tin hut), It was brough to my attention you have a Suburban with the 8.1liter, could you give me an overview of how you like it? I have a 05 Safari 30 that wieghs in around 7,400 lbs ready for the road and hope it tows it like a dream. I found a 05 with only 31k miles, it has 4.10 rear end and 4wd.
I currently have a 6.0 liter with 3.73 rear end and it does not tow badly, until I hit hills like near Austin say.
Oh, my wife and I always enjoy your column in Airstream Life. I especially enjoyed the 'red ass" edition!!
