Robert - I just stumbled on your reply!! It's been a while. Last September or so I bought a 25' 1954 Cruiser!! I'd NEVER driven further north than Okla City, so a drive to Williston, ND was 'instructive' to say the least. The resto is going slow, but that's OK. My Judi is more important. Got the new floor in last weekend. I'm waiting on VTS to ship the Intellipower 4560 to start the new wiring. This is fun, just wish there was more money to throw at it right now . . . Don't we all??

Re the Airstream tat - find me at Save Wally & you'll see it. Somebody had heard of it, asked & took a snap at the 2009 Texas Vintage Rally & posted it there. I do love it, but I still don't 'flaunt' it around, it's still a private thing, but it is interesting that I got it several months before finding the Cruiser, and it does resemble "Kitty".

Hope all is well with you & yours - Jim

Robert - No you didn't mislead, I just get all involved in our lives (Judi had a failing liver & all that entails) and I pay very little attention to the rest of the world, other than fishing for my '50's FC!! Glad to know you & yours are safe & sound, but I also had visions of a really cool trip to Colorado - getting away from the fires AND making those lasting memories with the kid(s). Our lives with them goes by SO QUICKLY, then they're gone off on their own.

I have some vintage folks here in Texas sniffing around for me. Actually, both are in my Wally unit and both have 4 vintage trailers!! What's unfair - both also have FC's in their collection. One took his to Bozeman & said he & his wife prefer that trailer to the "whatever model" 1960's trailer he has!! The other guy has redone his FC "just because" -they use a 1976 for camping. He said he just didn't want to see that FC get hurt by someone. I'd ask him to sell it to me, but he's bonded to that trailer almost as much as he is to his kids - he won't allow ANYONE to work on it, anyone.

Good to hear from you. Stay safe - Jim

    Hi Jim,

Sorry I haven't written back in a while. Been busy taking the AS out and about. The fire are almost under control. Maybe I mislead you, the fires are in the mountains north of here. We did how ever get a few weeks of gray skies and smoke. Regarding the FC on Ebay, I guess you can chalk it up to it wasn't meant to be. Keep looking one will come around. Have you figured out how to post pictures yet from your camera? I still want to see that tattoo you did. I was talking with the Misses saying I want one, but she thinks I'm crazy. I hope ever thing is well with you and Judi.

    Your friend in Ca,
    Robert

Robert - Just an FYI, but I almost had my hands on what the seller called a '54 FC (I thought it might be a '53!). It was in Duncanville, TX, a suburb of Dallas/Ft. Worth. It was on eBay. Seller set starting bid at $7,500. Judi & I made a 1 day trip up there to see it. No dents, a few 'beauty mark' scratches, fairly original interior, orig. stove (working!), a bath consisting of a potty & shower head (no sink), twins in the rear, front sofa bed At 15 seconds to the final bell, I maxed my bid to $10,125, but the winner must have had more in his hidden "bid" amount. So I got pushed out. The buyer is from your California, plans to use the trailer at some kind of auto races. I can only wish him well, but I did call the seller to say that if this buyer doesn't come thru, that I was still interested.

Thought you might enjoy knowing I'm still in the game for a good FC, if I can find one in my price range.

I hope you & yours came away from the fires out there with no "hurts".

    Jim
