    Hi Don,
We're recovering fine...just dealing with insurance now. Sounds like your neice's cabin was in Gilchrist. The news has flashed that picture of only one cabin left in the area numerous times. I had a friend that lived in Bolivar. They lost everything, but plan on rebuilding. Ike really did a number on all the beach communities. I feel for everyone there.

We're still looking for trailers...thinking about finding a used one now, instead of paying the price for a new one...want to buy a house next year...something more sturdy, if we're going to stay in this area. So we're just taking our time and not making any quick purchases. Was hoping the economy would bring the trailer and truck prices down quite a bit...so that there might be a thought of actually getting a good deal. lol If there's such a thing anymore!
I guess we can look forward to crazy weather everywhere now that we have this Global warming issue going on. We talk about moving away from here...like to Oregon, but then they have their weather problems there too.
    Nice chatting with you.
Hope you guys had a nice weekend.

I hadn't noticed your message previously. I am glad to hear you survived as well as you did. Our Niece and her husband lost their beach house completely, just a vacant lot now. I can't think of the name of the town but it is across the bay from Galveston east. The pictures we saw showed only one house survived, and it wasn't theirs. They had owned it less than a year. Pretty sad. They had said we could use it for the month of January. We had looked forward to that. We are planning to take the trailer to Elephant Butte Lake, NM for about 2 weeks in late Feb or Mar. I hope you are able to get the damage repaired soon. We were in Greeley spoiling our grandson this past weekend and we had a terrible wind while we were gone. My neighbor was out looking in his yard this morning. We have been having a lot of trouble with gophers lately and I asked him if he needed to borrow my traps and he said no he was looking for his bird feeder. The wind took it and he was not able to find it. Another neighbor had a small metal shed that blew about a block away and lodged in a storm water catch pond. It looked like it was wadded up like a news paper. Some people had and old wagon they use to sell jewlery from about 2 blocks away and it is tipped over and pretty well damaged. We get hurricane force winds here but we just call them winds. Take care, Don

We stayed and survived Ike....Loss lots of shingles on house and garage, got some rain in kitchen...blew under shingles, loss vinyl siding and trim, and lots of tree debris...no flooding/storm surge in our town...but devastated small town by way a crow flies 4 miles away. We were really lucky...just got electricity on this morning...luckily we got a cool front right after the hurricane hit. We're still under a mandatory evacuation but people are starting to come back into town.

I hope you didn't get hit to hard by Ike. We have talked to our relatives in Chauvin, & Houma, LA, they are still without power from the last one and Ike did more damage. Our family in Huntsville, TX had a lot of tree damage but nothing to their home. I just published my second article. View it on Airstream Articles. It relates to our favorite camp sites here in south central CO. I am still trying to entice you up here.

Again I hope all is well with you.

He does sound like a catch...I'll keep an eye out...Don't know any single women right off the bat...most have some sort of issues. Where is your article posted? I haven't been on here much lately...between school and watching Hurricane Gustav...hoping he doesn't come this way....The TX Gulfcoast seems to be turning into the new FL.

My article is now posted in case you haven't seen it. My son is dating a nurse, I would like it to work out. He has not had very good luck with girls so far. I am probably biased but I think he is a real catch. 37, no children, 2 homes and a Mercedes, Masters of Business Finance and works as a financial planner. He manages my funds and does a great job. If you run into a good girl, looking, let me know.

    Hi Don,

We live in the small town of Nederland, outside of Bmt.
I have a nursing school buddy who just moved to Arcada, CO. We've been up to Silverthorne, CO for a motorcycle rally a few years ago...We love your area. No humidity, if I could just get use to the altitude.
We've been looking at some 08 models...We liked the 27FB Safari SE, but I really want the International "Ocean Breeze" Just don't know if they'll be any 08 models left by the time we decide to buy...and of cost how much the dealerships will be willing to deal.
Looking forward to reading your article about polishing the AS.

I forgot to mention, you may not want to believe all you hear about Global Warming. We had out first snow yesterday and again today.

Thanks for accepting my friendship. My wife Phyllis and I live in Silver Cliff, CO. It is about 75 miles SW of Colorado Springs. We tow our 17 ft Caravel with a 2004 Dodge Dakota V6. I would think your choice of a Tundra would work for pulling what you are looking for. There are a couple of used Airstreams here in town but I don't know if they are for sale. I don't know if you are into restoration or just want to start with a new or near new one. We have had our Caravel for about 18 years and it was in good condition when we got it but it is quite nice now that we have reworked it. My wife's sister lives in Huntsville TX and her brother is in Houma LA so we get to your neck of the woods fairly regularly. We were there in April. Probably won't be back for about a year. We love your area of the country. Good luck on the hunt. If I can be of any assistance let me know. I just posted my first article a few minutes ago. I have to wait to find out if it is accepted. It is regarding polishing older units.

    Hi there,
Hubby and I are new to this site... We're still looking for an AS trailer...we want a 27'FB...the problem we're having is don't know what tow vehicle we want...want to get something strong enough to pull it, but not too big that I won't be able to drive it. We have 2 Toyota FJ Cruisers...but they are too small to tow a 27' trailer...so have to buy a new TV. Love the Toyota tundra...Stats wise it would pull the 27'...the problem is it would be close on the payload, if we brought bicycles, kayaks, generators, etc. So once we decide on the TV, then we can move forward on the AS.
We live in SE Texas by LA border on the gulf coast. We'll probably travel within TX the most and attend an occasional rally when we can. We've been studying everything we can get our hands on, as well as reading the post on here.
    Debbie
