When I replaced the windshields on mine I had the same problem. The installer wanted to replace the gasket because of age. He also stated the was a good possibility the other windshield would break during removal and reinstallation because of it's age and brittleness. The adjuster tried to tell me if it broke it would be a new incident with another deductible. After much going back and forth I told her to let me know where to drop it off and she could call me to pick it up when they had fixed it. The issue is between the insurance and the vendor, it is not your worry. Tell them you expect the repair to be completed satisfactory to industry standards when you pick it up.
For me the response was to have my guy fix it and send them the bill, left and right glass, gasket and installation. BTW it is not your problem to find the glass or gasket, that is what you pay them to do. Good luck.

Hello, I have an 82 Airstream motorhome that got a crack on the driver's side windshield. The insurance company is telling me they will replace the glass only not the gasket. The gasket is no longer available at Airstream. There is an Argosy gasket available at Silver Trailer Supply with a different part number. Not sure how to get the insurance company to pay for a full gasket. Any ideas? thanks, Paula
